Problem: Sanitation facility access is extremely low. 13.7% of the population has access to improved sanitation but 86.3% of the population only has access to unimproved sanitation.
Cause: There are not enough funds within the country to provide proper sanitation. The streets are dirty and often filled with sewage and dirty water. Solution: The United Nations could send in people that could build proper sanitation buildings so the population of Madagascar can use the bathroom in the proper and clean way. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ma.html |
Problem: Madagascar is experiencing deforestation and because of this, there is a lack of resources.
Cause: Madagascar's forests are being cut down. Topsoil is being eliminated because of erosion, and this is detrimental because topsoil is important for growing crops. This is a severe problem because Malagasy need to rely on the resources that they have around them. They do not have the opportunities that we may have here in the states and because of this, they need to rely on the trees and crops to make their living. Solution: I think that it would be a good idea to have some representatives from the United Nations come to Madagascar and have them hold some seminars on how to properly take care of a community and environment. http://www.wildmadagascar.org/kids/19-environment.html |
